What is it?? It’s a steel box, with pipes welded through. The bottom of the combustion chamber has a hole for the burner, the top. exhaust pipe. Sucks in air from a 12-volt computer fan.
Schematically, but I think it is clear. The burner heats the tubes, the air coming in on one side cold, heated, comes out the other side hot. And the CO2 goes out through the exhaust to the street. As a result, the air in the cabin is clean and warm. There’s no risk of burning or poisoning. In the picture the heat exchanger without fan.
The gas burner could be anything. Tourist primus, infrared, gas stove etc.
Since I wanted to use it more or less stationary (but with the possibility to remove it in summer), I integrated the burner completely inside the combustion chamber. This way I completely eliminated the burning of oxygen in the cabin.
At the bottom of the door I have a fresh air inlet, and on top of the ceiling forced extraction. The same fan from a 12 volt PC. The power consumption of these fans is 0.3A. It’s just negligible.
I moved the exhaust pipe to the side wall. because I had to get it under the seat.
This way I also freed up the plane above. And now you can heat food or tea on it.
But it was still dangerous. You could accidentally burn yourself. So I covered everything with a simple shield. It became more cultural and safe.
Speaking of safety. Burner with valve. In the absence of a flame closes the gas. There is also a sensor for gas leakage and excessive CO2
The exhaust comes out under the seat. The temperature of the pipe is still hot at this point, but your hand is already tolerated. But the first knee decided to make of stainless steel. Just in case.
Then connected to the usual plumbing pipe. Gray. Here it is already cold. The pipe is put only in parking lots, so it is quickly removable.
In the summer, you can remove it that did not get in the way. Can be taken on campsites. Install in a tent. Can be used for winter fishing. There’s just nothing to break.
On the downside. Can not set the temperature. Unaesthetic appearance.
