In the machine itself, the motor is connected by means of a terminal strip. All the wiring connectors are connected to it. In the case of a 2-phase motor, the pairs of wires are led to the terminal block:

On older generation motors it is necessary to determine the pairs of electrical terminals of stator and collector (it can be visually understood), as well as to measure their resistance with a tester. In this way it is possible to identify and somehow mark the operating and excitation windings in each pair.

If visually. by color or direction. it is impossible to identify the winding terminals of stator and collector, they must be tested.

In electric motors of modern models, using the same tester, the leads from tachogenerator are still defined. The latter will not be involved in further actions, but they should be removed so as not to be confused with the leads of other devices.

Measuring the resistance of the windings, determine their purpose according to the values obtained:

  • if the winding resistance is close to 70 ohms, it is the tachogenerator winding;
  • when the resistance is close to 12 ohms, you can confidently assume that the measured winding is working;
  • the excitation winding is always lower than the working winding (less than 12 ohms).

Next, let’s connect the wires to the home electrical network.

For electrical connections we use the motor terminal block. We only need stator and rotor wires:

  • first mount the terminals on the block. each wire has its own socket;
  • connect one of the stator winding leads to the wire to the rotor brush, using an insulated jumper between the corresponding sockets of the block;
