By the way, the same symptom can be in case of the starting capacitor damage. So how do you know without instrumentation what is the cause of the breakdown?

You should at least get to the motor shaft by removing the protective shroud and blades. If the shaft rotates by hand with great difficulty, then blame dirt and dried up grease.

And if it rotates easily and has inertia, then most likely the capacitor is dead. Symptom. you plugged in the fan, but it does not rotate. In this case you crank the motor and it starts.

If you hold the fan blades with your hand while operating, it may stop again. Check the capacitor with a multimeter, if it has the appropriate scale for measuring capacity.

For replacement, select a new capacitor with the same parameters as those indicated on the housing of the old one.

By the way, not completely dried out condenser, also affects the speed. If you notice that they have dropped and the fan is spinning slower, it is a bell to check it.

New bearing grease solves the problem of stiffness. This uses what are called plain bearings. Some people call them bushings.

It is expensive to use balls in such constructions, and they rattle a lot with time. You don’t have to disassemble the whole engine to repair it. It is enough to unscrew several screws and spray WD40 universal spray in necessary places.
