This device during ten-twenty minutes (duration of air evacuation depends on capacity of the conditioner and extent of connecting pipes) evacuates air from the line creating deep vacuum in it.

The process is seen by the pressure gauges on the manifold. Very often the procedure of evacuating (or vacuumization) of the trace is neglected and part of the refrigerant is blown through the system so that it expels all the air from the trace.
