The technology of connecting the thermostat to the floor consists of these sequential actions:

How to regulate the temperature of the water floor

The most common and convenient way to organize water underfloor heating is to connect the heating circuits through a manifold. This is the one that is most often used. Both pipe ends are connected to this device: one to the supply pipe and the other to the return pipe. The heating medium of the same temperature comes to the inlet of each circuit. But the length of the circuits is usually different, which leads to heating to different temperatures, and the temperature in each room should be different. So in the bathroom 25 o C or even higher is considered comfortable, and in general 20 o C or a maximum of 22 o C. Changing the temperature characteristics is only possible by changing the amount of coolant entering the circuit.

The simplest method is to install control valves at the inlet or outlet of the collector. By turning their heads you can change the amount of heat flowing into each loop. You only have to feel the results, which is not always convenient. The scheme of actions in this case is simple, but multistage: turn up, wait some time (until the floor warms up or cools down), evaluate the result, turn up again, etc.д. Since the temperature outside is rarely stable, you often have to turn the valves.

To facilitate the task, flow meters are installed at the inlet, which makes it easier to equalize the temperature. But you also have to turn the taps manually and control the conditions by yourself.

This design does not require the mandatory installation of the device, such as electric floors. In the case where the boiler is not powered by electricity, there will be high financial costs for a small optimization of heating.

There is a variant of regulation in the usual manual way, focusing on subjective preferences, but only if the floor is the only heating device and the boiler does not raise the temperature above 50 degrees. But if the house (in system) there are also other heaters: radiators, a contour DHW, thermostat for a water floor to installation is obligatory.

What are underfloor heating actuators? These devices, without which the temperature regulation of the liquid water coolant is not possible. Today manufacturers offer two types of actuators: open and closed. Difference in valve positioning:

  • In open designs, the valve is open until the heating/cooling signal appears (at which point it closes),

The choice depends on the user’s preference, but experts advise open-type servomotors due to the fact that even in the event of a breakdown, the water in the system will continue to function and the floors will not freeze.

Important! Choosing servomotors with a 24V DC voltage supply will require the installation of an inverter.

Connection of the actuator is easy. Depending on the type of thermostat, a connection is possible:

  • in the case of a thermostat controlling a single floor heating circuit, installation is carried out using appropriate wiring;
  • If the unit is a multizone type, the wires are connected to the corresponding terminals.

Thus, the actuators perform not only the role of passing/closing the coolant, but also a protective function. The closed position signals the end of the pump, which will prolong the life of the entire equipment. the pump will not run idle, and thus the risk of failure of the system due to high pressure, will be minimized.

Important! In underfloor heating systems, the pumps in which the conventional solid fuel type, pump disconnection is unacceptable: the boiler will not go out anyway, and the termination of the system (the signal) threatens to rupture the entire structure. Installation of a bypass and bypass valve will avoid this situation.
