What is the best way to put a fan in the room

Simple tricks for a cooler home

best, room

How to easily, simply and cost-effectively cool your home in the heat? You don’t have to pay a lot of money to buy and install air conditioning and there are many alternative ways to make the climate in your home a little more pleasant. It is only necessary to connect the wit and remember the old-grandfather’s methods. But these simple tricks work on one condition: perfect insulation. A house with well insulated walls and roof will withstand the heat. In our article you will learn 7 simple ways to turn your home into an oasis of coolness on hot days.

By Olin Lathrop

From a purely temperature point of view, rather than a person’s perceived level of heat, it is better to direct the fan outside. This is because the fan motor dissipates some heat, and when the air goes outside, this heat escapes. All this is assuming that there are enough ventilation cracks in the room and t. П., That the pressure inside is still effectively the same as the pressure outside, regardless of what the fan is doing.

The temperature perceived by humans is very different because humans are a heat source themselves and have a built-in evaporative cooling system. The airflow will help with the cooling process and take the heat away from the area around your body. A person sitting in a chair in a room with a fan will feel cooler than one with a fan because of more air movement in the room.

If you want to get cooler in the room, blow air. Extra power from the fan motor. is a minor effect in the overall scheme of a typical room in the house, and the kind of airflow that such a fan creates Concerns about fan motor power are really picky, but can make a difference for such things as cooling the electronics cabinet.

Another problem is where the air that comes into the room comes from if the fan goes outside. If it comes from other parts of the same house that are also hot, it may technically be most effective for lowering the temperature in the entire house, but less useful for just the room in question.

Why does everyone put fans in the toilet or how we decided to make a smart fan, DIY story

Most users believe that a fan in the bathroom is only needed to refresh the room itself (when visiting the toilet or after taking a shower or bath). But this is fundamentally wrong. Below you’ll find out why. This article is about how ventilation in apartments should work according to modern standards, what place is given to fans in the bathroom, bathroom and kitchen. You will also learn why to make a smart fan and how it can help freshen the whole apartment. And also how we’re trying to make something more out of DIY.

How ventilation should work in 99% of our apartments? And in the remaining 1%.

The ventilation system in the vast majority of cases is organized as a natural supply and natural exhaust, in accordance with SP 60.13330.2016 HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING, which means that the supply air should enter the rooms through the enclosing structures (leaking windows, micro ventilation mode windows or air inlets) in the room and displace the polluted air into the dirty areas: kitchens, toilets, bathrooms, in general, where there are exhaust ducts. Schematic below.

Another alternative to ventilation is the use of breezers, ventilation units, recuperators about it written in our first article on the Habr “On modern ventilation. It is a good solution if the price is acceptable.

Ventilation systems in the vast majority of our homes work on the principle of natural ventilation, which means stable operation only during the cold season and usually on the lower floors. For more on this, see the article “How ventilation systems work”

Three factors for proper operation of natural ventilation:

Supply of air through the building envelope (gaps and cracks, micro ventilation of windows, intake dampers and breezers).

Unobstructed passage of air from the window to the exhaust duct: organized either by filing the leaf by 15-20 mm or installing overflow grille in the door.

Removal of contaminated air through exhaust ducts all year round.

This is how ventilation systems work, not only in our country but in Europe as well. For example, the air inflow through air inlets and outflow through exhaust ducts is organized in Germany, France, England, Poland, Finland and Scandinavian countries (which is supported by legislation).

Fresh air must enter through windows, leaks or intake vents as it passes through the room, the fresh air displaces the contaminated air and it is expelled through the exhaust ducts. So we get fresh air in the apartment and throw into the environment polluted air (CO2, dust, volatile organic compounds, chemicals from finishing materials and furniture, etc.).д.)

To work the ventilation on this principle requires ventilation draft (the driving force that pushes air into the street), but it appears only in the cold season, when there is a temperature difference between inside the apartment and outdoors, as movement occurs due to the difference in air density in the apartment and outdoors. So, in accordance with SP “Heating, ventilation and air conditioning” ventilation systems are designed for outdoor air temperatures not higher than 5 ° C.

It’s like the movement of a balloon heated by a burner.

If there is no burner, the ball does not fly. if it is warm outside, the ventilation, alas, does not work.

According to Archimedes’ law the ventilation draught depends on the air density difference in the apartment and in the open air (which depends on the air temperature there and on it) and on the height of the ventilation shaft. So when the height of the shaft on the upper floors is small, the ventilation does not work even in winter because of the lack of ventilation draft.

So on the presence of natural ventilation in the house depends on the work of the air exchange in your home.

To ensure the stable operation of ventilation use exhaust fans, these are placed in apartment buildings on the roof or the tenants in the bathrooms. Unfortunately, central rooftop exhaust fans. this is still a rarity, even in large metropolitan areas.

Why use a fan to operate the ventilation system.

You must be able to control your ventilation system. That is why exhaust fans solve the problem of ventilation draft and allow ventilation of the entire apartment.

In Europe it is quite common to have an exhaust fan in an apartment or house, and it is responsible for the ventilation. Т.е. The fan runs continuously, not as we are used to when we visit the bathroom.

Practice in our country says that we put a fan in the bathroom to turn it on (usually by a separate switch or along with the light), when using the toilet or bathroom, which is fundamentally wrong, since we need the flow of fresh and dirty air constantly, not only when we go to the toilet.

In addition, the off fan can create additional resistance to air movement, which also worsens the performance of ventilation.

People usually do not know that this fan can improve the climate of the whole apartment if it is not turned off. The real capacity of household fans connected to the air duct network is 30 to 50 m3/h. Which is below the norms for ventilation of the whole apartment at least 110 m3 / h. So it always has to work when we want ventilation to work.

It should be noted that a household fan can not overturn the entire ventilation and drive air to the neighbors in the riser. Household axial fans have a fairly low pressure in the range of 10-30 Pa and the pressure is barely enough to push the air into the shaft. But if we are talking about a centrifugal fan, the pressure can be about 100-300 Pa, and in this case, all the neighbors will feel what is happening in your home and what you cook. In systems not designed for such powerful fans, it is not correct to install them. If we are talking about single-family homes, this may be a good option.

Here’s a review of ventilation in a hotel in Germany using such a scheme by a well-known blogger in his circles: https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=IEwSiI6gZ4M

Thus, in order for the ventilation system to work properly, you need to:

Use exhaust fans year-round to create headroom,

additionally don’t forget about the air supply.

About modern air supply will be in the next article. Introducing an interesting new type of special air inlet device.

Conventional or smart fan, what’s the difference.

To have ventilation run continuously when needed (when a person is present), you can use ordinary fans and turn them on only when you are at home, when you want ventilation to work. for example with a separate light switch. Or use automatic ventilators that know when ventilation is needed according to air detectors.

Example of conventional fans (do not forget Google or Yandex):

Automatic fans are still scarce on the market, for example:

In the case of automatic fans with air quality sensors, the fan monitors the air being removed and begins to work harder if it is deteriorating. And when the air quality improves it reduces its performance. Intelligent and economical. This is shown schematically in the figure below.

For example, you have a lot of people in your apartment and the air quality requires ventilation, the fan in the hood “sees” this and can intensify the ventilation.

And if you left the apartment, the air in the hood is fresh and you can minimize the ventilation or turn it off at all. The draught will be reduced and you will not be chasing and heating extra air.

This solution gives a number of advantages:

Automation of ventilation. no need to monitor the ventilation, it itself determines when it needs to work.

Noise from the fan is localized in the bathroom or toilet, the presence of the door always shields the noise. This solution works quieter than a breezer (in this solution the fan is located in the room).

Energy efficient, since heating street air in modern homes accounts for up to 40-50% of heating costs, it is rational to reduce the amount of ventilation when it is not needed.

Puzzled by the work of ventilation in his building, or rather the lack thereof, I began to understand how it must work.

It was simple, as written above, supply fresh and remove contaminated.

I decided to supply air through a supply valve, as I did not like to run to open and close the window. And most importantly, how do you know that you’ve opened the window ajar enough, and now the air is fresh?? If you open a lot of it you feel sorry for the heat and the cold; if you open a little you think. what is your child breathing, because there are so many pollutants such as: high levels of CO2, phenolics from furniture, radon from the walls and basement and much more things I do not understand.

After installing the valves in winter, when there was a ventilation draft, I was very satisfied. The house is always fresh, and my wife stopped opening the window when she went for a walk with the child. You can not hear the noise from the street, and do not essentially control the work.

But now the warm time of the year came and the house again became unbreezy. It turned out that everything stopped working, since the old Soviet norms do not promise ventilation above 5C. By the way, it was because the Chinese and Italians did not make household fans at that time, and we could not do it ourselves because we were in space (just kidding).

After understanding the essence of the problem, I put myself a household fan and life got better again until the arrival of cold weather, when there was a ventilation draft. Then together with a working fan they mercilessly began to suck the heat out of my apartment.

I’m not greedy person, I understand, it will be good to warm the street, because it will be faster coming summer. But it would be a pity to raise the level of CO2 on the planet this way.

So I wondered how the fan would know there were people at home?

It turned out to be simple enough to organize by the air quality sensor.

History of the fan, how it was made and what it consists of

The first prototype was harsh, made from a cooler and American Stealth (Papier mache) technology, see below.

I liked the idea, but how to make a small series?

From the analysis of the operation of the first prototype it was decided to apply the following sensors to determine the modes of operation:

temperature/humidity sensor SHT30 or HTU21,

air quality sensor like ccs-811 or sgp40,

We decided to use a MOX air quality sensor, since the more advanced NDIRs are larger and more expensive. The chosen MOX sensor measures VOC and CO2 equivalents, we decided it was the best option. As in the dirty areas a lot of organics and also need to understand the level of CO2.

Although we understand that the best solution would be a NDIR sensor and VOC, but it is expensive and probably too early.

The operation of the device should be configured from a smartphone, as otherwise is not modern, so we add the development of software for smartphones and some interface for interaction. At the moment the program on the phone is made on Xamarin, this platform has admirers and critics. I have not really liked the Hamarin platform itself so far, but maybe it’s all about the intricacies of programming and not the Platform itself.

It is advised to make further steps in Flutter, as a modern, dynamic development and as multi-platform, as well as Xamarin development environment. So the redesign of the current application and the development of new ones for other devices want to do on Flutter. But the specialists working on Flutter feel even fewer and harder to find. Share in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев if it’s true?

To control the fan speed in different modes of operation it was decided to make a triac control, it differs from the usual dimmer by the presence of the zero crossing sensor. We didn’t spend much time with this little thing, we were adjusting speeds by anemometer.

In general it is better to use DC fans with PWM control to control fan speed, it improves regulation quality and energy efficiency. Although it is easier to control modern DC coolers, it is harder to make a complete device because of the greater amount of work on the case and the additional power supply.

The next prototype was decided to do on the basis of an existing fan, such found, but as a result did not like everything, an example below.

This prototype was tried on ESP32 and on BLE nrf52 from Nordic, power supply tried to use factory pulse and homemade without galvanic isolation condenser like in Redmond socket, see. article on Habra.

As a result, we stopped at the nrf52 Nordic microcontroller, because it was more difficult to do on ESP32 because of the need to develop the server part, and the web interface didn’t suit us. The second reason for using the nrf52 was to develop another battery-powered Nordic device.

Who has experience with ESP32 and the server part, please write in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев, is it all difficult to do?

Experiments with capacitor units led to an explosion and were abandoned). Now everything is only with galvanic isolation!

As a result, we discarded the prototype in this case, though it was beautiful and had an aesthetic front panel. Rejected in the first place because of the high cost of the donor, also the light sensor did not see the light. And light is also one of the main indicators of the use of dark rooms, windows in the toilets of new buildings are almost never made, as it is a very secluded place.

We decided to do the same in a more budget-friendly case, an example of a prototype below.

Add a Fan to ANY Room without Existing Fixture or Wiring!

The prototype worked well and the cost of the donor was satisfactory. It was tested by testers.

In general all was satisfactory, but some did not like the noise level of the fan’s impeller, there were also wishes for the design of the device. Personally, I was surprised by the Комментарии и мнения владельцев on the design and frankly upset by the noise level.

a mode of work with sensors both separately and together: the quality of air (VOCeCO2), temperature, humidity, brightness,

manual settings for any of the sensors as well as operation at a constant speed,

Setting the modes of operation from a smartphone via the app.

After summarizing all the work and all the wishes for error correction, the third prototype was made, which already has a good impeller, quiet in operation, below are two prototypes and the sample, which we came to, the evolution is reflected from left to right.

Now the fan consists of 4 parts: fan base, electronic control board with bluetooth to connect to smartphone (android so far), fan cover, which we make individually and the front panel. The front panel is fixed with magnets. All sensors are located on the board on the left side, you can see in the photo below.

We made a test batch through acquaintances and old customers and are now testing the market.

The bottleneck of the prototype was the enclosure which had to be made using the small batch plastic molding method. So far we decided to make the cases ourselves by casting in silicon.

How to Install a Ceiling Fan | Lighting and Ceiling Fans | The Home Depot

We had to make a lot of bumps and 60% of the covers were defective. But now we have begun to understand something in the technology of casting in silicone, I hope that it will add pluses to the karma.

It would be good to write an article about casting in silicone. There is so much advertising information that we even bought a degassing chamber, but for the test samples we can do without it. However, they usually do not write about it, they are afraid to reveal the secrets.

We would like to make the next covers on aluminum molds using injection molding machines, as the real steel ones are at least 15 ths. green. There are not many companies on the market that work with aluminum molds and I haven’t found any real reviews. If anyone has encountered aluminum molds, write in Комментарии и мнения владельцев, we will discuss in more detail. Mainly steel and made in China.

On the output we have:

A fan that can work individually by each type of sensor: humidity, light, air quality, and in Smart mode by all three sensors at once.

Convenient interface for configuring the modes of operation. So far, only for Android.

Beautiful design with panels of different colors (on request we can make an individual one).

Quiet operation due to the quality and good impeller.

Manual modes of operation to configure the work on individual sensors:

By speed. select the desired speed

By humidity. it works by set point humidity

By lightness. it works by turning on the light

Regarding the air quality. let’s choose the air quality as a criterion

Separately there is a mode Smart (we call it so).

Smart works on all sensors, with a special algorithm and individual settings. In this mode the fan independently monitors the average humidity and will start only when it is exceeded. It is pretty good at tracking human presence and activity, as the humidity, light and air tell a lot about.

Here is an example of a screenshot of the program with the modes of operation.

What do we want to add to the fan.

Many test users asked for remote control via internet. Do you think it is necessary or not??

I think that this fan should be set once in a lifetime and you should forget about it, it should work itself! But everyone likes to be able to control and, therefore, want remote control. Since the development of a device with the ability to connect to the Internet is more complicated because of the server part and a full-fledged application, the plan to do the system on WI-FI second line.

The team

The question of the team is very important, because the success of any project depends on it. Outsourcing and hiring freelance developers is quite dangerous for a startup, as it burns a lot of financial and time resources (you have to redo everything several times, in addition you always need a clear ToR). But make a good TOR at an early stage. this is also a separate task, because if you develop the product yourself, rather than copying, it is an iterative path. And for every step you have to pay. So I made a lot of mistakes.

The most correct point about the team is the idea that you must look for like-minded people, without them it is hard to do anything worthwhile.

Who knows how to look for like-minded people. write. We are looking for!

The bottom line: for such a project, you need the skills of a circuit designer, a programmer, a smartphone software developer, a designer and a manager.

We have planned a series of devices: automatic fan, air inlet, climate control station, heating thermostats control from climate control station.

This is a big job and who is interested in the topic of climate and climate control write to the group, new ideas are always welcome.

Plans for the future

They say you don’t have to advertise it, but we will. By writing this here, we will strive not to give up and move on points without losing our bearings.

Make not only fan D100 mm, but also D120 mm.

Finish the development of air inlets for building envelopes, now are testing. The device will be responsible for the inflow of air, the cost will be lower than that of breezer and most importantly it is much easier to install.

After completing these points, we want to run a smart control station by the CO2 sensor. This station should control both ventilation and heating.

The next article is planned about the air inlet, which is shown above, now are being tested and refined. As the harsh winter of 2020/21 showed some design flaws.

If you are interested in climate control theme write and join us in GreenVent telegram group, we are glad to criticism and new ideas.

Best fan placement to move air through the house

What’s the best way to put a fan in the room

Summer is characterized not only by the vacation season, trips to the sea or other water bodies and summer vacations. This time of year is also accompanied by a very warm, and sometimes unbearably hot weather. Many publications are written about how harmful high temperatures are for people, so the desire of most people to make the microclimate in their home more or less comfortable in summer is understandable. Of course, the ideal in this case is to install air conditioning, but it is quite expensive and not everyone can afford. That is why in the summertime quite popular other methods of cooling the air in the house.

To begin with, let’s look at how exactly our body is cooled in hot weather. There are four methods of heat transfer from the skin to the environment. Convection (heat transfer to moving air), conduction (heat transfer to still, cooled air), evaporation (cooling by evaporation of sweat) and radiation (radiation of infrared radiation from the body). In everyday life two methods are possible. It is possible to cool air (this is the conditioner’s job) or to make it move and take heat from your body. Of course you can use and evaporation, such as pouring water or take a cool shower, but these are temporary measures and the microclimate in the house is not affected. That is why in the absence of air conditioner it is necessary to increase ventilation in the house that will cause the necessary air movement. But it is worth to do it right.

The most common household appliance used to create air movement is a fan. However, no matter how pleasant it is to sit under the stream of air from it in the summer heat, it is still not worth doing so. such “blowing” is fraught with colds and immunity decline. Better to install the fan so that it causes a slight movement of air throughout the room, such as putting it in a corner and direct the air flow along the diagonal of the room. Of course, you won’t get a quick feeling of coolness by this method, but in any case it will be more comfortable than outdoors.

In order to make the air movement more tangible, you can use two fans. one blows air outside through the window, the other stands near the door or opposite the first one at the other end of the room and blows air in the same direction. This ventilation direction is used during daytime hours, when air temperature in the street is much higher than in the room. In the evening or morning coolness, you can change the direction or simply do not turn on the fans. cool air will penetrate into the room itself. And even if there are no fans, the same principle should be used to air the rooms in the summertime. to open windows in the morning and evening or at night and close them tightly during daytime. a sluggish draught from the window will not escape the heat, but will only heat up the air in the room additionally.

The main thing is to open the windows at least at some time of the day to ventilate. Ventilation in apartment buildings is practically inactive during the hot season of the day, leading to poor air exchange and accumulation of respiratory products in the apartment. Use of special small fans installed in ventilation holes or at least turning on the regular kitchen hood for a couple of hours a day will help to partly correct this situation.

You may use the ventilator more effectively with the windows closed, making it “chase” the cooled air. For this purpose, behind the fan blades, you can install or put several containers of refrigerant, which are put in cooler bags and are widely available. If they are not available, bottles with frozen water can be used to cool the air. Hanging wet towels around your home or apartment is, contrary to popular belief, ineffective. To cool the air even a little bit noticeably, it is necessary to cover the whole room with them. The same goes for the recommendation to spray cold water with a spray-gun. it has a very short and temporary effect. In addition, with completely closed windows it will cause a significant increase in humidity in the house, which can have a negative impact on furniture and coatings, and can also be a provoking factor for diseases such as bronchial asthma.

Certainly all these methods will not create the same comfort in the apartment as using air conditioner, but the correct ventilation of the house at high temperature will create the necessary movement that will largely promote the heat transfer from the human body and allow you to more or less painlessly survive the hot season.

How to properly install, choose a fan in the bathroom or toilet

A sure sign of a humid room. sweated mirrors, condensation on the walls. You must check if the ventilation in your apartment is working. It may be time to clean the air ducts. Light a match and bring it to all of the ventilation grills in your apartment one by one. If the flame goes to the grill, there is nothing wrong with the ventilation. If the flame is not drawn into the grille, you should ask the housing and utilities department to check and clean the ventilation ducts in your apartment. If the flame reacts very weakly to the draught or does not flutter at all. you need a bathroom fan. If you have a bad draft it is necessary to organize the air intake. It is often advised to make a gap under the door. simply saw a piece of the door a couple of centimeters.

A good fan should be installed in the bathroom (toilet). Nevertheless, even with good passive ventilation in the bathroom can accumulate steam and excessive humidity, and in the toilet long lingers unpleasant smell. Then a good fan can solve this problem. Calculate the approximate volume of the room in which you want to improve ventilation. Multiply this volume by a room frequency factor of 5 to 10. This way you can determine how powerful a fan you need.

Wall-mounted axial fans are most often used for these rooms. When installing such fans, the working part of the structure with an electric motor is “sunk”, only its minimal part. the front grill, where the air intake comes from, is protruding from the wall. Thus, the fan in the bathroom will not spoil its appearance, even if the walls are decorated with expensive tile.

The fan in the bathroom must be splash-proof with electrical safety rating not lower than IP 45, preferably with a capacity of 100 m³/ hour (the toilet can be smaller). Although the kitchen is a less humid place than the bathroom, the requirements for clean air are much higher there, so it is better to install a fan in the kitchen with a capacity of 200-300 m³/ч.

Wiring diagram of the fan. It largely depends on the room. In the toilet, it is best to use the “classic” connection diagram, connecting the fan in parallel with the lamp. When you turn on the light, the hood starts working, when you go out, turn it off, it turns off. Only we should take into account that if the operating voltage of lamps is 12 V. fan should be connected before the step-down transformer.

In the kitchen, this scheme is unlikely to be useful. к. In this case there is a strict binding to the light. for the fan to work, the light must be on, which is very inconvenient (especially during daylight hours). Therefore, for the kitchen is suitable fan with a timer, which can set the desired time interval or just set a separate switch to it (universal fan connection diagram).

In the bathroom it is advisable to use an extractor fan with a humidity control sensor. Of course such fans cost more expensive than usual, but their efficiency is much higher: they switch on automatically, when humidity value is not too high.

Main modes of air conditioner and their symbols

The main purpose of an air conditioner is to cool the air in the room to create a comfortable microclimate. As a rule, all devices of climate equipment have a standard range of functions marked with English letters, symbols or icons. Let’s have a look at them.

Cool mode. cooling

Cooling mode is the main function of any air conditioner. Is marked on the remote control with the word Cool or a snowflake icon.

In order to control this function it is necessary to press the corresponding button and to set an optimal temperature mode in a room by pressing “\-” value on the remote control. There is a temperature sensor inside the appliance to control the temperature inside the room.

By setting the necessary parameters, the device will begin to function at full capacity. As soon as the thermometer column will reach the set value, the sensor will work, and the speed of pumping cold air will be automatically reduced. Now conditioner will operate on maintaining of set temperature parameters, and all the time the optimal coolness will be kept in the premise.

Heat mode. heating in winter

Some models of split-systems also have a function of winter heating. It is labeled Heat, and the desired temperature is set with buttons “\.”.

Heating function in split-systems is recommended to use in the off-season on cool days. Such devices are not able to become a valuable heating system in winter time, as they have low productivity. Besides the majority of models of split-systems are calculated for operation at the outside temperature up to 5-7 degrees of frost. At lower temperatures freon will not be able to pass from liquid to gaseous state that will lead to the breakdown of the compressor.

Fan. ventilation mode

The ventilation function is provided in all air conditioners, including the cheapest ones. It is marked on the remote control with a fan icon or the word Fan.

The purpose of the ventilation function is to distribute cool or warm air around the room. When the fan speed increases, the air cooling/heating speed also increases. To activate this mode it is necessary to press corresponding button on the remote control. On the display you will see a LED’s light or a scale icon.

  • Low. slow mode, gradual change of air temperature in the room;
  • Medium. medium working speed;
  • Turbo is a powerful mode for cooling the air in the room as quickly as possible;
  • Auto. automatic mode, when the fan independently regulates the rotation speed of the blades to maintain a set air temperature.

Dry mode. dehumidification

The dehumidification function is labeled Dry on the remote control. This option is useful for people living in high humidity areas. Activated dehumidifying mode absorbs moisture for 10 minutes, which is followed by a 5-minute pause with the deactivation of the ventilator and then starts the turbo fan for 2 minutes.

Sleep mode or night mode

Some models of split-systems have one more useful function Sleep. Sleep mode, marked on the remote control with corresponding inscription or with the image of moon.

Sleep function is a special mode, which automatically controls air cooling at night time, when a person sleeps, in order to provide the comfortable temperature in the room. After setting this mode, the fan speed is reduced, which contributes to reducing noise during operation and economical use of electricity.

Where to place the fan in the room?

When one does not have enough money for a good air conditioner, one can save oneself from heat with the help of an ordinary fan. It does not reduce the temperature in the room, but through the movement of air cools the body.

The fan must be placed correctly so that the air flow is focused directly on the person. It can be switched on both in no-movement mode and in rotation mode. The fan can be floor-standing or table-top. It is better to buy a floor fan, as it is convenient to place it anywhere, as well as at any height. The main thing is that the fan should not be installed near a desk with documents or other light objects that can even fly from the air flow.

Fan, the cost of which depends on its functionality, brand awareness, power model. Most fans have three speeds on, a rotary mode, night lighting, sometimes a temperature sensor. As for additional functions, it is very convenient when the fan can be adjusted with the remote control. The power of the air flow will depend on the size of the fan blades and the speed of their rotation. Firmly mounted fine mesh prevents the blades from striking. If there is a child in the house, you need to buy a model with a fine safety net, and the fan should be installed in a place inaccessible to the child. It must have a stable foot.

To be able to adjust the height and direction of air it is desirable to pick up the fan with the ability to fix it in the right position.

An ordinary room fan can cool the temperature of a room by several degrees if special measures are taken. If you put two plastic bottles of ice in front of the switched on fan, within half an hour the temperature will drop a couple of degrees.

It can also partially clean the air in the room. To do this, use a spray gun to spray water in front of the fan, but make sure that the moisture does not get on the motor in any way. Dust particles from the air will attach to water particles in a strong stream. Such measures would be useful in very hot weather and lack of moisture in the room. Expensive models may have a function of ionizing and humidifying the air, but their cost is almost the same as the air conditioner.

You can order fans online or buy them in an electronics store. On the network, most models are cheaper, but the fan will come disassembled and still need to be assembled.

If you fall asleep leaving the fan on in a room you haven’t cleaned in a while, your nostrils stand a good chance of attaching themselves to dust from the farthest corners of the dwelling. You don’t want to add the words “allergies” and “asthma” to your résumé?

It only seems that putting a fan close to the bed is a great idea. You’re more likely to sleep with your mouth open (nothing personal, a lot of people sleep that way). You may wake up to find your mouth unpleasantly dry and your throat uncomfortably scratchy. In addition, the fan creates not only a miraculous breeze, but, you’d be surprised, a disease-causing draught. It will be unpleasant to get muscle pain on your own initiative. So, fan, move over.

Let’s recollect how we got rid of the heat in those days when technological progress did not yet give us air conditioners and even fans. The first method is simple: use heavy curtains in light shades. They save from direct sunlight, respectively, the air is less heated. Curtains can be replaced by blinds or reflective window film.

The second way: Do not open the windows during the day. Try to ventilate rooms at night, when the air is coolest. With the windows and curtains closed it will stay that way. Of course, there is a drawback in the fact that during the day you will breathe stale air and live in semi-darkness. But it will be cool!

The third method is aimed not at protection from the heat, but to combat it: soak a sheet, duvet cover or other large piece of fabric in cold water and hang it in the room. As the water evaporates, it freshens the room. Instead of using a sheet, you can spray the curtains with a spray gun.

The same principle of evaporation will work if your home has an open aquarium or a lot of plants, carefully watered in the morning.

Open containers with cold water, or even better, with ice, placed in the corners, can reduce the temperature in the room by several degrees. And if you also direct the airflow from the fan, it is almost like an air conditioner.
